Segal Resources
Close every loop — fuel, metal, carbon.
The connective tissue. Resources recovers fuel, lithium, materials, and carbon across fusion, geothermal, and bio — so every program returns more matter than it consumes.
Close the loop.
Every energy source has a waste stream and a feedstock; Segal Resources turns one into the other. It is the connective program — recovering tritium from the fusion blanket, lithium from geothermal brine, carbon and biomass from bio, and advanced materials from all three — then sizing the storage and dispatch that turn intermittent harvest into firm power. The rule the whole company runs on lives here: return more energy than you spend, and more matter than you consume. A reactor that needs more scarce material than it makes is not sustainable, however clean the electrons.
Resources is chemistry and systems engineering rather than a single reaction. On the fusion side it closes the tritium cycle — breeding in lithium blankets, recovering and accounting for an inventory measured in grams where every gram matters. On the geothermal side it runs direct lithium extraction (DLE) and silica recovery from hot brine, selective separations that must hold up at temperature and over uptime. On the bio side it returns carbon as biochar and biomass to the loop.
Across all three it does materials reclamation and grid integration: reclaiming scarce inputs from spent hardware, sizing grid-scale storage, and scheduling firm dispatch so a fusion shot, a geothermal well, and a hydrogen array add up to power a utility can schedule. The accounting is auditable by design — a Materials Passport tracks provenance and circularity per input, because a sustainability claim that can't be audited is just a claim.

MODEL
Map every fuel, mineral, and carbon flow across the fleet.
RECOVER
Tritium, lithium, carbon, and materials from each program.
SEPARATE
Selective separations — DLE, blanket recovery, reclamation.
STORE
Size storage and condition output into firm capacity.
RECIRCULATE
Return matter to the loop; account for every gram.
Tritium breeding & recovery
Closes the fusion fuel cycle — lithium-blanket breeding and gram-accurate inventory recovery, accounted end to end with Segal Fusion.
Direct lithium extraction (DLE)
Selective lithium and silica recovery from geothermal production brine — by-product minerals, not a mine, fed from Segal Geothermal.
Carbon & biomass circularity
Returns bio's carbon as biochar and biomass to the loop, and verifies removal through shared MRV.
Advanced-materials reclamation
Reclaims scarce inputs — superconductor rare-earths, catalysts, structural alloys — from spent hardware across all programs.
Grid-scale storage sizing
Sizes storage against each program's output profile so harvest becomes dispatchable, not just available.
Firm dispatch
Schedules combined output — fusion, geothermal, hydrogen — into firm, carbon-free electrons a utility can plan around.
Closing a loop economically is harder than closing it at all. Tritium inventory tolerates almost no loss; DLE selectivity must survive temperature and uptime; MRV must be auditable, not estimated. The unsolved variable is doing all of it at a cost that keeps the energy and materials balance positive.
Fuel Cycle Ledger
Tracks tritium breeding ratio, inventory, and materials recovery end to end — the auditable book that proves a reactor is fueling itself.
- Gram-accurate tritium inventory accounting
- Breeding-ratio tracking against the self-sufficiency line
- Materials recovery flows across programs
Materials Passport
Provenance + circularity accounting for scarce inputs across all programs — every gram of lithium, rare-earth, and catalyst tracked from source to reclaim.
- Per-input provenance from source to reclaim
- Circularity scoring across fusion, geothermal, and bio
- Cross-program scarce-material balance
Grid Dispatch Console
Plans firm, carbon-free dispatch from the combined fleet plus storage — sizing storage and forecasting output to deliver schedulable power.
Breeding Blanket Pilot
Lithium blanket module, tritium breeding ratio > 1 target.
A sub-scale breeding module measuring recovery against the self-sufficiency line — the experiment that decides whether the fusion fuel loop can close.
Direct Lithium Extraction Pilot
Selective Li/silica recovery from geothermal brine at temperature.
A DLE skid on geothermal brine measuring selectivity and uptime at production temperature — by-product minerals recovered, not mined.
Materials Passport Live
Cross-program provenance + circularity accounting in production.
Every scarce input across the fleet tracked source-to-reclaim, with an auditable circularity score per program.
Firm Power Pilot
Combined fleet + storage delivering dispatchable carbon-free output.
Reference engagement for the coupled thesis: fusion, geothermal, and hydrogen plus storage feeding firm, schedulable electrons onto a live grid.
Tritium self-sufficiency
A breeding ratio above one with gram-level inventory control is the make-or-break for fusion fuel. We model blankets and measure recovery against the line.
DLE selectivity at temperature
Direct lithium extraction must stay selective and durable in hot brine over long uptime. Selectivity and fouling are the measured variables.
Auditable carbon & materials MRV
Circularity and drawdown claims are only worth their audit trail. We build MRV that an outside party can verify, not estimate.
Both, and a full operator. It is the connective tissue across fusion, geothermal, and bio — but it runs its own pilots (breeding blanket, DLE) and platforms (Fuel Cycle Ledger, Materials Passport).
Because clean electrons made from scarce, un-recovered material aren't sustainable. The company rule is to return more matter than it consumes — Resources is where that is measured and proven.
Energy returned on energy invested — total useful energy out over the energy spent to build, fuel, and run the system. Every program is optimized for it; a source that nets below one isn't a source.
